Gloucestershire College leads county change towards a sustainable future through GC Zero
An ambitious project that aims to drive decarbonisation and deliver net zero campuses by 2030 launched in Cheltenham last week.
In July 2020, the government announced new incentive payments for employers to encourage the recruitment of new apprentices. Originally planned to end on 31 January 2021, the incentive payments have now been extended for a fourth time to January 2022.
The amount each business will receive for every new apprentice hired also increased to £3,000 from April 2021. With the existing £1000 incentive for taking on a 16-18 apprentice, this now means businesses will receive up to £4000 per apprentice recruited.
We're proud to be the first college in the country to drive decarbonisation and pledge to be carbon zero by 2030 - that's 20 years ahead of the UK Government’s commitment to 2050. This means the carbon we generate running all of our campuses will be 100% offset by the carbon we save operating renewably and responsibly.
Cheltenham Campus was buzzing with excitement as it welcomed over 100 VIP guests from the cyber-tech industry to the official opening of its £3m Advanced Digital Academy (ADA), a state-of-the-art cyber and IT training facility that offers an exceptional learning environment for GC computing and cyber students and apprentices.
We couldn’t be prouder of our apprentices who have secured places in the final for the GlosLive Apprenticeship Awards 2021. Meet Rhiannon Howells, one of the finalists and an apprentice at Longlevens Infant school.
