First Students Welcomed to Gloucestershire College’s New Hardwick Campus
We have welcomed our first learners to our brand-new Hardwick Campus in Cheltenham, marking an exciting new chapter as we open the doors to our second campus in the town.
The new campus, located just a 10-minute walk from Cheltenham town centre, has opened in time for the new academic year following the refurbishment of the former University of Gloucestershire Hardwick site.
The 37,000 sq ft site is now home to our First Steps provision, expanding the College’s offer in Cheltenham and creating more opportunities for young people to study locally.
The opening follows the announcement earlier this year that the College had acquired the site as part of its continued investment in education and skills across the county.
Learners can develop their confidence, independence and resilience in a supportive environment, while having the opportunity to explore their interests, build new skills and consider their future options. The programmes are designed to help learners recognise their strengths and ambitions, giving them the knowledge, confidence and support they need to take their next steps into further education, an apprenticeship or employment.
The additional space at Hardwick complements our existing Cheltenham Campus on Princess Elizabeth Way, increasing the College’s presence in the town and providing more opportunities for local young people to access education, skills development and support close to home.
Dr Karen Morris, Vice Principal Curriculum and Quality at Gloucestershire College, said:
“We are delighted to welcome our first cohort of students to our brand-new Hardwick Campus today. A great deal of work has taken place behind the scenes to refresh and transform the campus into a modern, engaging learning environment where our learners can thrive, develop their skills and achieve their ambitions.
“This is an exciting milestone for Gloucestershire College and marks the beginning of a new chapter for our learners, our staff and the wider community. We are incredibly proud to open the doors of our Hardwick Campus and look forward to seeing our students make the most of the opportunities this new environment provides.
“Our investment in Hardwick is about creating an inspiring place to learn, where our learners can build their confidence, develop new skills and feel ready to take their next steps.”
Following months of work to prepare the site, students and staff are now settling into the new campus and beginning the first term at Hardwick.
The opening marks a new chapter for the site and another significant milestone for Gloucestershire College in Cheltenham.
Hardwick Campus increases the space available for learners, creating new opportunities for young people across the town while reinforcing the College’s long-standing commitment to investing in Cheltenham and supporting the local community.
We are excited to welcome the first learners and staff to Hardwick Campus and look forward to seeing the new College community develop over the academic year.
