T Level Changes: Remote Working and Placement Flexibility Introduced
Students can now complete all 315 placement hours remotely and split their experience across multiple employers.
What is a T-Level:
T-Levels are a two-year qualification designed to give students a strong mix of classroom learning and real industry experience. Equivalent to three A Levels, they combine around 80% classroom-based study with a substantial industry placement, allowing students to develop both technical knowledge and practical workplace skills. Students achieve a nationally recognised qualification graded Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction*, with a Distinction* carrying the same UCAS points as three A*s at A Level. T-Levels are recognised by universities and employers alike, providing a clear pathway into skilled employment, higher or degree-level apprenticeships, or further study at university.
What are the changes?
The government has introduced new flexibility for T-Level industry placements, making it easier for students to gain valuable work experience in ways that suit both learners and employers.
Students can now complete placements remotely where appropriate, particularly in industries such as digital, where home working is common. Placements can also be split across multiple employers, giving students the chance to experience different workplaces and projects.
Not only this, but there is also now greater flexibility around team projects and simulated working environments too, helping students build practical skills in a wider range of settings while still gaining meaningful industry experience.
What T-Levels does Gloucestershire College offer?
What do our employers say?
“Working with Gloucestershire College provides an attractive incentive for those that live locally to be able to take their career journey on a number of different pathways without having to even leave the county! With the students here, by starting them early, they’re able to take that journey into the NHS and stay with us for a long time.”
Chris Broom, Education Lead at Gloucestershire
Our T-Level students have been a great asset to The Forum team, always punctual and arriving with a great attitude. They’re engaging, polite and enthusiastic, always keen to get involved, asking what else they can contribute to and keen for feedback on the tasks they have completed.” Kier Construction
What do our students say?
“I’ve been loving it, it’s been so good getting the experience, speaking to the women and seeing all the different experiences. It’s really preparing me for the job.
“My favourite part has been the birth unit. It’s a very low risk area. I saw a pool birth, and I got to cut the cord. I liked it because it’s very chill, it’s nice to be able to tailor the women’s birth to what they wanted in their birth plan.
“I think the course has been really good as it’s shown me what I’m capable”.
