Business Students Secure Bleed Boxes for Gloucester Campus and Community
We're incredibly proud of our Level 1 Business students, who have made a real and lasting impact in our community.
As part of their studies, students worked in teams to pitch to college executives, making the case for why Gloucestershire College should invest in public bleed control kits, known as bleed boxes. If successful, the college would fund the installation. The pitch worked. Gloucestershire College agreed to fund one box, and following the students' efforts, the Ramarni Trust stepped forward to donate a second.
Both bleed boxes have now been installed at Gloucester Docks, alongside the Gloucester Campus, with plans to install a further box at Gloucester Park.
We're proud of every student who took part, and grateful to the Ramarni Trust for their partnership and their tireless work to make Gloucestershire safer for everyone.
About the Ramarni Trust
The Ramarni Trust is a Gloucester-based charity founded by the family of Ramarni Crosby, a 16-year-old who tragically lost his life after being stabbed in Gloucester in December 2021. Established in his memory, the trust has raised over £32,000 to date, funding youth organisations, knife crime prevention work, and the distribution of emergency bleed control kits across the city.
Pictured alongside the Level 1 Business students and their lecturer Tonia is Viv Clifford, Ramarni's grandmother and one of the founders of the Ramarni Trust. Viv has been a driving force behind the push to install bleed boxes in public spaces across Gloucester with the aim to make a critical difference in an emergency.
As Viv has said of the kits: "They could make the three-minute difference between somebody living and somebody passing away and a family having to go through the same trauma as we did."
Her hope is clear: "We couldn't save Ramarni, but in Ramarni's name and his legacy, his name can keep going by the Ramarni Trust."
