Tech Talent Lab: Decoding Your Future: Cyber Security Level 3 Apprenticeship

The Tech Talent Lab: Decoding Your Future initiative, that we recently launched in partnership with CyNam and the South West Apprenticeships Company (SWAC), provides comprehensive support to a limited number of businesses wishing to employ apprentices, to address increasing skill shortages in the sector, particularly in entry level roles.

Three apprenticeships are offered under the programme: Cyber Security Level 3, DevOps Engineer Level 4 and Software Development Technician Level 3 - all fully funded by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology. 

Apprenticeship Spotlight: Cyber Security Level 3

This apprenticeship is tailored to a wide range of businesses both within and outside the cyber sector who may not, at this stage, need advanced degree-level expertise.

Cyber Security Level 3 apprenticeship is suitable for:

• non-cyber businesses with limited IT and cyber infrastructure. Your apprentices will provide first line cyber security support, learn to proficiently handle simpler IT systems, providing essential security without the need for advanced skills
• companies needing to rapidly build a basic cyber security framework, set up initial defenses and manage day-to-day security tasks efficiently
• departments within larger organizations who can benefit from having an entry level apprentice focused on maintaining cyber hygiene, monitoring basic security systems, and supporting senior cyber security staff.
• companies looking to build a foundational cyber security team or fill entry-level support roles.

Level 3 Cyber Security apprenticeship is fully funded under the Tech Talent Lab initiative, and participating employers benefit from a peer-to-peer network, fully funded recruitment and admin support, and award-winning, in-person training delivered at our state-of-the art Advanced Digital Academy. 

Duration is only 12 months, plus 3 months for End Point Assessment

• Junior Security Operations Centre (SOC) Analyst
• Junior Information Security Analyst
• Junior Threat and Risk Analyst

The Level 3 cyber apprenticeship offers the perfect starting point into the world of cyber security, with the potential for apprentices to progress to our NCSC-approved degree-level qualification.
