Are you looking to develop your healthcare practice skills and knowledge for a career in healthcare? Look no further than our Level 4 Health and Social Care course!

Our comprehensive course is designed to improve your education and training for a range of careers in healthcare, including healthcare assistant practitioner roles, nursing assistant/auxiliary roles, care navigation, planning and assessment roles, public health, health promotion, and non-clinical healthcare supervisory or lower management.

At Level 4, you'll learn about law, policy and ethical practice, demonstrating professional principles and values in health and social care practice, supporting the individual journey through integrated health and social care, fundamentals of evidence-based practice, principles of health education, effective healthcare practice using maths, and applied anatomy and physiology.

With our course, you'll have the opportunity to achieve a nationally-recognised professional qualification within your chosen area of specialisation. Our assessments are continuous through assignment briefs containing practical, theoretical, research and evaluative elements. You'll also complete at least 450 hours (225 at Level 4) of work experience/placement in health and/or social care settings and a Professional Learning and Development portfolio (PLAD), including reflective accounts, over the two-year period of the qualification (one year for the HNC and a further year for the HND).

Our excellent facilities include a fully equipped ward and specialist, passionate lecturers with industry experience. Our entry criteria require ideally a Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care or a related subject, and at least a grade 4 in GCSE English and maths. We will consider prior learning, life experience, and/or work experience, but we will also explore alternative options with you to set you on your path to your goal.

Together, the Health and Social Care sectors employ one in ten of the working population. The NHS employs 1.4 million people, and most social care a further 1.6 million people. With our Level 4 Health and Social Care course, you can join the highly educated workforce in healthcare and be part of the team that directly provides care, or choose from managerial and supervisory jobs, professional jobs (including social workers, nurses, and occupational therapists), and administrative, ancillary, and other jobs.

    GCSE Maths and English Requirements

    To study Higher Education at Gloucestershire College, normally applicants will be required to have GCSE English and Mathematics grade 4 (C) or above or have comparable/equivalent qualifications.

    English Language Requirements

    If English isn’t an applicant's first language they will be required to have a minimum IELTS score of 5.5 across all components. The College also accepts a range of international English qualifications and English language tests that demonstrate the required level of English language proficiency.

    Gloucestershire College welcome any other/combinations of relevant qualifications that are comparable and/or equivalent to the typical course entry requirements.

    Applicants that do not have recognised qualifications may still meet course entry requirements through alternative methods of assessment at the College’s discretion.
