I've always had an interest in cyber security. You'll always have a job, everywhere needs cyber security, it's a growing industry and you can go into anything really. The opportunities are endless.

I chose my course because I really enjoy hairdressing – I like styling people’s hair and making them feel happy after I’ve finished with their look. I like learning new things, learning different colours and how to do different cuts. I find the processes really interesting. I work at a salon currently and would like to stay on there. Getting that experience of a salon, seeing how stylists do different things in different ways is really good to see.

There is a lot of freedom in computing. I'm enjoying the computer hardware and software programming side of the course as well as cryptography and cryptanalysis. We just recently went on a trip to The National Museum of Computing which was great.

I aspire to become a Midwife but did not have the qualifications to study at university, so the Access to HE course was most suited to my career path. My lecturers are a constant source of encouragement and motivation. All classes are well planned and inclusive, and I appreciate the flexibility. Having two children means it can be difficult to juggle childcare but all work is uploaded to the intranet, which allows us to catch up on anything missed. Studying at GC has been life-changing for me and I’m so pleased I took the leap back into education. I have applied to university and hope to study Midwifery full-time at either the University of the West of England or the University of Worcester next year.

I like cooking and getting the freedom to make things. I like finding new dishes, learning new techniques and discovering new flavours. The people I’ve met and the friends I’ve made here have definitely helped me become more outgoing. We work as a team and this course gives you a taste of the cooking industry.

I’ve always liked fashion and I knew that college would help me more than sixth form. I need to be more practical, and I knew the college course would help me a lot more than sixth form – and it did! At college you meet a lot of different people, and they inspire me in different ways. It helps me grow by seeing how other people’s minds work. That wouldn't have happened if I’d stayed in my school!
