Brand-New Construction Centre in Cheltenham

Become the workforce of tomorrow at our new, sustainable construction centre.

Due to be completed Autumn 2024

What is the new construction centre at Cheltenham Campus?

Due to be completed Autumn 2024, the bespoke centre will be a thriving hub of activity, equipping students with key green skills needed to futureproof their careers. Once complete, the centre will feature 10 plumbing bays, 12 electrical bays, and 20 bays for carpentry, as well as 4 classrooms.

The 14,000 square-foot sustainable construction centre across the ground and first floor, received £70,000 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and £4m from the Post 16 Capacity Fund, the centre will be equipped to train 164 learners with sustainability at the core.

What courses can I study?

The training provision will be based on existing nationally set pathways but will embrace low-carbon energy and the associated skills needed in this rapidly evolving market. Both full-time courses and apprenticeships will be taught at the centre, giving students the chance to get hands-on with industry standard equipment.

Cheltenham Campus will offer training in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, property maintenance and construction and the built environment – including T Levels and university level qualifications.

Who will teach the trade courses?

All of our trades courses are taught by industry experts, some of which still work in-industry today. Our lecturers unparalleled knowledge and industry insights will give students the opportunity to learn from those who have real world, first-hand experience; making them ready for the working world and putting them leaps and bounds ahead of other candidates.

Why study at Cheltenham campus?

As Cheltenham undertakes ambitious construction projects, including the Golden Valley Development and significant infrastructure projects such as the M5 J10 and A417, there is an increasing need for skilled construction workers. Local demand for new recruits is projected to be 6,400 each year, in order to deliver the planned work by 2025. Moreover, the industry's shift towards net-zero carbon technologies within construction will compound this challenge.

Construction Courses

The construction industry needs skilled people who understand about sustainable building practices and the latest technology. They also want people who’ve developed traditional skills such as bricklaying and plastering. Our construction training programmes will make you ready for work. Construction Apprenticeships

Apprentices earn while they learn. We offer a variety of construction apprenticeships, including carpentry, electrical installation, bricklaying, building services, ground works, plumbing and heating, property maintenance and surveying. Apprenticeships offer paid work experience and the chance to study to gain a formal qualification at the same time.

Construction T Level

T Levels are a two-year technical qualification, designed to give you a head start towards the career you want. Created with local employers and businesses, they include an extended industry placement to help you learn what a career is really like in your chosen field. The work placement will make up 20% of your course (at least 45 days), with the remaining 80% of your time spent in the classroom.
