Games Design Lecturer Sunday Adams Shares Insights from the Joint Conference on Serious Games in Switzerland

We caught up with Sunday Adams, our Associate Lecturer in Games Design and Development Computing, after he attended the Joint Conference on Serious Games (JCSG) in Switzerland.

The conference took place at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and is dedicated to the multifaceted characteristics and nature of Serious Games.

It brings together scientists, domain experts, and practitioners from academia and industry to present and discuss a broad spectrum of application domains, as well as appropriate game design issues, models, algorithms, and technologies that meet the needs of individual users and user groups in specific application areas.

Sunday presented his paper, which explored how Augmented, Virtual, and Mixed Reality can be used as effective tools in learning, and not just for entertainment, particularly for younger students.

Sunday Adams shared: "Attending JCSG was a really positive and insightful experience. The sessions were engaging, and it was encouraging to see how AR, VR, and MR are being explored not only in education but across a wide range of fields, including training, healthcare, design, and industry.

The presentations and discussions offered a clear sense of where the wider XR community is heading, and it was inspiring to connect with researchers and practitioners who are pushing the field forward. I came away with new ideas and perspectives that I’m looking forward to bringing back into my own work and sharing with our students."

We’re excited to have gained this insight into the Games Design industry and look forward to Sunday sharing his ideas with our students in the future.
