Gloucestershire College Apprentice Crowned Mock Mayor of Barton St Mary
We’re extremely proud to celebrate the achievement of Business Administration Apprentice Viva O’Flynn, who has been honoured as the new Mock Mayor of Barton St Mary.
The historic mock mayor-making ceremony, held at One Eyed Jacks on Barton Street, saw Viva take on the role with a pledge to bring people together through arts, crafts, community spirit, and celebration.
Alongside her work at Gloucester City Council as a Business Administration Apprentice, Viva is a champion of local culture and creativity. As secretary of the Gloucester Filipino Association, she also promotes Eastgate Indoor Market as a hub for shopping, socialising and celebrating the city’s heritage.
Viva now joins a proud tradition of community leaders who have taken on the role of mock mayor, with plans to support local businesses, celebrate diversity, and spread kindness across Barton.
In her own words, Viva said:
“With joy in my heart and creativity in my hands, I step into this cherished tradition of Barton’s mock mayor not with pomp and power but with love, laughter and community spirit.
“With these three lights guiding me I will serve as your mock mayor not with laws and taxes but with cake, crafts, laughter, joy, celebration and community. Thank you everyone.”
