Following a positive response from the October event, the S4G team has announced 27-28 January 2022 as the new date of its “Cyber Security for Your Business” workshop for Gloucestershire’s SMEs. The workshop can be attended online as well as in person.
According to the government’s report, 2021 has seen a significant rise in cyber security breaches. The increase has been propelled by more sophisticated malware, and by companies prioritising the seamless delivery of remote working for their workforce over security.
While no business large or small is safe against cyber-security violations, SMEs can be especially vulnerable, often having weaker cyber defences or lack of cyber security awareness training.
The S4G team has recognised the urgent need for local business leaders to become more cyber-crime savvy in order to be able to safeguard their companies against fraud and hacks – the breaches that could have a devastating effect on organisations.
The Cyber Security for Your Business workshop responds to this need and is tailored exclusively to Gloucestershire-based SMEs.
The first workshop ran in October 2021, and was well received by the participants.
“An exceptionally interesting course, it's given me lots to do when I get back to my organisation.” – commented one of the attendees; while the other added: “An excellent introduction to cyber security for business owners. It really highlights the threats to your business and tries to break it down to help you identify how to start to tackle the issues.”
Businesses leaders who missed the October training can now take advantage of the January dates. It is a unique opportunity to get practical advice from some of the top experts in cyber security and to learn at the perfect venue – Gloucestershire College’s state-of-the-art Advanced Digital Academy (ADA) designed to support IT & cyber industry-related learning for GC’s students, apprenticeships and local employers.
The workshop takes place over the course of two days and is delivered by the S4G partnership consisting of the University of the West of England, Nat West and Gloucestershire College.
The agenda combines theory and practice and includes sessions on the evolving landscape of cyber-crime, must-have policies and technologies, the hands-on pen testing of business websites against some common threats and hacks, as well as plenty of networking opportunities with like-minded business leaders and cyber security experts.
The workshop is best suited for business leaders without any specialist knowledge, who would like to expand their understanding of cyber security and cyber-crime, to pinpoint their companies’ current vulnerabilities and learn how to deal with them.
