Apprentice End Point Assessment Facilities officially opened in Gloucester

We were delighted to welcome construction and building services companies to our brand-new training centre for brickwork, carpentry, property maintenance and plumbing, located at Chancel Close in Gloucester.

It will be used by our trade apprentices undergoing their End Point Assessments (EPA), with the potential to be available to other local training providers for training and assessment of their learners.

The 530-square-metre centre consists of eight carpentry bays, with additional space for cutting and preparing materials; eight property maintenance bays fitted with plumbing, carpentry, tiling, painting and plastering areas; five brick bays measuring at 3m x 3m, and three bays for plumbing with live water feeds and suspended ceilings.

“Our Chancel Close facilities cater for Level 2 and Level 3 in carpentry and plumbing, and final end point assessments for brick and property maintenance. I am proud to say that we are very well stocked on materials for all our courses and have invested in new tools for the students to assist them during their assessment, said Tom Price, Apprenticeship EPA Technician, who oversaw construction of the site from the very start.

Principal Matthew Burgess added: In order for us to continue to be successful as a training provider, we must adapt to industry requirements for skills training. We have listened to feedback from our employer partners, as well as our learners, about the need for high-quality EPA-compliant facilities for construction and building services.

The EPA groundworks training centre in Cheltenham was the first new facility we opened last autumn, and we wanted to expand in Gloucester next. We were delighted to have been able to secure further funding to create such a versatile centre in Chancel Close and are encouraged by a positive reaction from employers and EPA assessors.

"Chancel Close is now officially open for business and we are excited about the potential and the future of the site!
