Our Experts, Your Teachers

Holly Kent
Holly Kent

Holly has a strong background in delivering film and media at all levels, having completed her undergraduate Film degree at University of Exeter and Masters in Film at the University of Bristol. Alongside her teaching, she has consulted for scriptwriters and film festivals, combining her love of watching film with creating original ideas. She is also embarking on a PhD in Film, which means that pretty soon she’ll become the ultimate ‘film geek’ – although don’t ask her about any superhero films, she is not a fan of those!

Layla Gunter
Layla Gunter

Layla prefers life looking through a lens where everything and anything can be edited out. Her favourite styles of photography are surreal and fine art, although she has a soft spot for some awesome landscapes. Having worked in the public and private sector she decided to branch out and put the art of media into practice with her own studio and production company in the mighty FOD. She’s one of the many experts in videography, editing and photography on the media team.

James Camp
James Camp

James is from an audio background and is a master of the synthesizer and keyboards as well as a sometime singer and footballer. He likes noodly synths, catchy hooks and messing around with time signatures and generally lives the life of an international rock star. He also knows his way around a recording studio, having spent plenty of time in them and as well as audio editing, mixing, mastering and recording techniques he’s also pretty accomplished at music video making and visual imagery.

Kevin Grey
Kevin Grey

Kevin trained as an electronics and mechanical engineer and is a qualified sound engineer. He is the longest serving member of the teaching team and what he doesn’t know about music and music technology probably isn’t worth knowing. Kev’s also a dab hand at video editing, photography and anything else he puts his mind to as well as being a fantastic guitarist and singer.

Nicola Cudby
Nicola Cudby

Nick plays keyboards, melodica and saxophone among other things and also sings harmony vocals when needed. The  guitarist in her band also once told her that she is never allowed to play the tin whistle or recorder in public but she ignores him. She loves a killer chord sequence, fruity organ riffs, pretty keyboard sounds and middle eights that go somewhere unexpected. Inside she’s a frustrated noisy guitarist who accidentally learnt a ‘proper’ instrument when she was young.

Pete Butler
Pete Butler

Pete is our resident Logic expert and knows just about everything you could ever need to know about numerous music technology programs, having a massive knowledge of Mac shortcuts. He’s also one of the best piano players in the department and has a secret past working in the audio departments of TV and radio stations. Pete’s a whiz in the studio and happens to have a fantastic singing voice as well.
