Course Overview

Part Time
Certificate

Participation in our evening classes provides far more than the opportunity to learn new skills but also numerous benefits to our mental health and wellbeing. Evening classes are known to lower stress levels, improve confidence, increase social integration, contribute to personal growth and lifelong learning to name just a few advantages.

This course is for those that completed Spanish Beginners during 2024/25 or already have a basic knowledge of the language and wish to progress and further develop their knowledge and understanding of Spanish. You should already understand sentences and commonly used expressions relating to personal and family information, shopping, work and your local area. You should also be able to interact in basic routine situations requiring a simple and direct exchange of information and be able to describe your own background and education, immediate surroundings and matters relating to immediate needs.

Throughout the pre intermediate course you will build upon basic skills and learn to handle more complex situations relating to daily life; understand and use common expressions; talk about past experiences; express needs and participate in simple conversations on familiar topics.

The course is divided into 3 terms over the academic year. Please note that each term is enrolled and payable separately.

We recommend that students start in September and continue through to June.  It may be possible to join at the beginning of the second term but this must be with the permission of the tutor and with the reassurance that the student has sufficient prior knowledge. It is not possible to join in the third term.

  • Our recreational classes are for those aged 19 (as at the start of the academic year you are applying for) or over.

Please note our language courses are divided into three terms and enrolment on each term will be required.

Many businesses work with companies abroad, or have branches in other countries. This gives speakers of multiple languages an advantage when it comes to working with larger companies and organizations.

We have courses in French, German, Spanish, and other languages for use in business and socializing. You might end up working for a global investment firm, or as a translator for the police!

Please note, all Language courses (excluding British Sign Language) are roll on courses, which involves students enrolling from one term to the next, building on the knowledge and skills learnt in the previous term. In exceptional circumstances and at the tutor’s discretion, it may be possible to join in-year, if there is already a foundation of language learning at the relevant level.
