Get Creative is the perfect introduction to creative courses if you’re working to gain all the necessary know-how to move onto a Level 2 qualification. You’ll be able to explore and experiment with a range of different skills before deciding on your next steps in the creative industries.
What you’ll learn
Are you hoping to get a taste of all the creative arts have to offer? On this course you’ll get an introduction to art in various forms, in a range of different areas:
You’ll develop foundational skills and grow your confidence in a broad range of creative skills, all with the support and expertise of our specialist staff.
Maths and English is a core part of your learning. All students taking this course will follow a full programme of GCSE study, so that they can gain the knowledge and confidence ready to progress into a Level 2 qualification.

Assessment
This Level 1 qualification is project-based. Assessment takes place at the end of each project/unit and places you in a range of situations that allow your abilities to be assessed from pass to distinction level through grading criteria that are laid down by your awarding body (Pearson/Edexcel).
Anything else?
There is an events fee charged at the outset of the course. This covers classroom materials and resources, one mandatory trip and the cost of any visiting guest lecturers and workshops. You’ll have a weekly pastoral support session with a student mentor for offer additional support that you may need during your time on the course. You’ll normally spend 3 days a week in college and complete maths and English qualifications alongside your course.
You’ll also complete 100 CPD hours throughout the year and develop additional employability and work-based skills through our Which Three Skills programme.
Gloucestershire College welcome any other/combinations of relevant qualifications that are comparable and/or equivalent to the typical course entry requirements.
For 19+ applicants that do not have recognised qualifications may still meet course entry requirements through alternative methods of assessment at the College’s discretion.

Successful completion of this course will allow for progression to a Level 2 programme of study, ideally in an arts-based subject.
