Quayside Centre offers a secure, specialised environment for up to 25 young people with complex SEND needs, mental health challenges, and educational disruptions.

With a high staff-to-learner ratio, the centre provides a personalised learning experience, flexible timetables, and a curriculum tailored to individual interests and aspirations. Through trauma-informed practice, intensive pastoral support, and collaboration with external agencies, it fosters confidence, resilience, and well-being.

Over a 2-3 year period, the goal is to empower learners with the skills and support needed to successfully reintegrate into education, employment, or training.

Our Curriculm

At Quayside, we look at students’ needs holistically and therefore offer a variety of educational and well-being activities to support increased positive mental health, development of core skills such as English and maths, strategies/activities to express emotions, such as creative and physical outlets, as well as preparing individuals for the context of the wider world.
Our Curriculm
Every student’s timetable is tailored to their individual needs, based on EHCP outcomes, student voice, and discussions with parents and external agencies. Curriculum may include a selection of the following:
  • Functional skills or GCSE maths
  • Functional skills or GCSE
  • English Creative sessions through our partnership with JOLT
  • Access to explore music as a therapeutic tool
  • Sports sessions such as yoga, martial arts, football, gym Job coaching sessions
  • Volunteering and or work experience
  • Social action projects
  • Transition support planning to next steps

Session topics based on:

  • Managing and maintain nutrition
  • Maintaining personal hygiene
  • Being appropriately clothed
  • Maintaining a habitable home environment
  • Developing & maintaining relationships
  • Making use of necessary facilities or services in the community including public transport
  • Employability skills development
To aid progress towards our student’s next steps, Quayside Centre provides a Curriculum + programme. This includes short qualifications and training that can aid further education/training or employment opportunities, such as food hygiene certificates, manual handling, and creative writing.
All our specialist provisions have trained pastoral support workers who can meet with a student on a regular or ad hoc basis for additional wellbeing support.
