Cross-College SEND Provision
The Cross-College SEND provision covers the range of support that is available for any learners with additional needs that are studying courses that are not one of our specialist SEND provisions. This includes vocational, apprenticeship, part-time and higher education courses.

Learners with additional support needs on these courses are able to receive a range of additional support coordinated by the Learning Support team. This includes:
· Additional in-class support from Learning Support Assistants
· Regular targeted individual or group sessions from SEND Intervention Mentors
· Dedicated support for specific learning difficulties (such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and autism)
· Access to and training on assistive IT equipment and software
· Make special arrangements for exams (such as readers, scribes, extra time)
· Targeted support and provision towards achieving EHCP outcomes
· Supporting teachers in adapting learner materials and environments to support a wide range of additional needs
· Access to bespoke specialist support, such as SEND counsellors, mentoring and 1:1 tuition
· Mobility, medical, personal care support (inc for short-term injuries/conditions)
If you have specific additional support needs that may impact your studies if you are not supported, please inform us before starting your course. You can do so by contacting learning.support@gloscol.ac.uk.
The Learning Support team do need to speak with you, carry out an initial assessment of your needs and check your eligibility prior to developing and delivering your support plan.

What should I do?
-
Gloucestershire College strives to ensure that all learners have the very best opportunities to succeed in their studies. If you have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP), or you are a parent/carer of someone who does, please tell us about this and what support you think you will need before you start College. This enables us to make sure that all the right support and adjustments are in place to help you succeed.
If you have an EHCP, you will need to request that the Local Authority issue the College with a legal consult before your application can be considered. You can find out if the College has received a legal consult for your EHCP by contacting the SEND Transitions Team at transitionsteam@gloscol.ac.uk.
-
If you do not have an EHCP but feel that you some additional support for a physical or learning difference that may be a barrier to your studies, please contact our Learning Support team for more information. The team can be contacted at learning.support@gloscol.ac.uk.
It is best to notify the College before your studies begin so that support and adjustments are in place as early as possible to support you.

At your previous education provider (school, training provider, college, etc.), you will have been provided with a document called a ‘Form 8’ if you have had exam access arrangements in the past. This could be adaptations, such as having access to reading/writing support, extra time, different coloured paper, separate room and more.
To speed things up to make sure you have the same arrangements at College, please email this directly to learning.support@gloscol.ac.uk either before you start at College or at the very start of your course. If you are not able to find this document, please do still contact the team for support as soon as possible.

Firstly, you should consider completing a Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) application. DSA can cover the costs of additional support in and outside of College for things such as:
· specialist equipment, for example a computer if you need one because of your disability
· non-medical helpers, for example a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter or specialist note taker
· extra travel to attend your course or placement because of your disability
· other disability-related study support, for example having to print additional copies of documents for proof-reading You can find out more about DSA using this link - https://www.gov.uk/disabled-students-allowance-dsa.
Secondly, please contact the Learning Support team at learning.support@gloscol.ac.uk to find out more about how we can support you at College during your studies.
