T Levels: The Next Level Qualification
T Levels are a two-year qualification designed to give you a head start towards the career you want. They bring classroom learning and an extended industry placement together on a course created with businesses and employers.
T Level students spend 80% of the course in the classroom, learning the skills that employers need. The other 20% is a meaningful industry placement, where they put these skills into action.
At Gloucestershire College, you can study T Levels in:
Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction T Level
Learn the core knowledge and skills that underpin
many jobs in the construction industry, especially
construction design and surveying. In addition to core
units of health and safety, mathematics and science,
you’ll learn topics that are of significant importance
to employers in the sector, including sustainability,
design, law, project management and technology,
alongside the practical elements of land and building
surveying to provide accurate measurement and
industry quality drawings.
This course is great for anyone wanting a career in
construction. It can lead to careers in surveying and design,
civil engineering, building services design, or
hazardous materials surveying.
Health: Supporting the Adult Nursing Team T Level
Working in a real setting, supported by professional expertise, you'll learn theory and be able to put it straight into practice. You'll gain knowledge and skills in assisting adult nursing teams with clinical tasks, supporting individuals in daily activities and assisting with skin integrity assessments. These skills will be underpinned with knowledge in areas such as anatomy and physiology, healthy nutrition and care routines, understanding the use and calibration of clinical equipment and policy and guidelines.
Assessment will be through examinations, an employer set project and practical assignments.
Digital Support Services: Digital Infrastructure T Level
Develop digital knowledge and skills in information security, and understand the security controls that can be used to mitigate security threats within solutions and services, using digital evidence to solve problems. You'll learn to apply procedures and controls to maintain the digital security of an organisation and its data, and explain, install, configure, test and manage both physical and virtual infrastructure.
You’ll gain an in-depth knowledge of operations, networking and infrastructure that is:
- A good foundation for high-level specialised qualifications in networking or infrastructure architecture
- Preparation for immediate employment at intermediate levels
Business: Team Leadership and Management T Level
Focus on the development of knowledge and skills needed to work in the Management and Administration sector, and understand the world of work so that you're ready to enter the sector through employment or as an Apprentice - you can even progress onto higher education courses and training.
Put your studies into practice and gain real experience while you study core business concepts and theories. You'll learn about the essentials of business organisation, change management, communication, professional audiences and quality and compliance, before specialising in team leadership/management.

Our experience with the NHS Foundation Trust shows us the ins and outs of the hospital environment and what it’s really like. We’ll have experience in different wards – which might spark new interests. During the first year of our course we’ll also gain a Care Certificate that allows us to do bank work in hospitals during the summer holidays – our course leaders are brilliant and ensure we have can have those experiences to take beyond college.”
How business can support T Levels
We invite local employers to support our T level learners by offering an industry placement that will both benefit your business and teach young people the skills you look for in an employee.
A student will be invited to work with you for around 45 days, developing skills and building confidence. Placement times can be arranged to fit in with your needs.
By helping nurture and develop local talent, your organisation will benefit from cost effective recruitment for entry level jobs and apprenticeships that will bring in motivated and creative people. In addition, it provides an opportunity to upskill your staff with the chance to mentor a young person.
