Introducing Apprenticeship Units
Apprenticeship units are a short, flexible training courses taken from an approved national apprenticeship standard. They enable employers to upskill their existing workforce quickly by targeting key skills gaps that are critical to business growth and productivity.
- Units are designed to ensure relevant high-quality targeted training.
- Each unit ranges from 30 to 140 hours delivered over 1 to 16 weeks.
- Employees must be aged 19 and over.
- Non-levy paying employers can be fully funded.
- Levy payers can now use their levy funds to pay the training costs.

AI Leadership Apprenticeship Units
AI Leadership units are for employees in leadership roles, who need upskilling in particular aspects of AI and the opportunities it presents to their organisation.
Maximum funding: £750 per unit

AI Strategy and Opportunity
It is particularly relevant for individuals in organisations at an early or exploratory stage of AI adoption, where there is a need to build a foundational understanding and identify viable opportunities.
AI Adoption, Procurement and Governance
It is best suited for those involved in evaluating options, developing business cases, and establishing governance and assurance approaches for AI and digital technologies.
AI Delivery and Organisational Transformation
It is suited to those overseeing implementation of AI and ensuring that AI solutions are integrated effectively into organisational processes and ways of working.
Electrical Fitting and Assembly
The apprenticeship unit is for existing employed engineering operatives and technicians who, with the support of their employer, need to upskill in electrical fitting and assembly fundamentals, including health and safety legislation, interpreting technical drawings, planning tasks, and using the correct tools and equipment. It also covers wiring and terminating cables, testing work, and identifying and diagnosing faults.

Solar PV Installation and Maintenance
This apprenticeship unit is designed for employed electricians looking to upskill in solar photovoltaic (PV) installation and maintenance. It covers safe working practices and relevant legislation, alongside the core principles needed for installation, testing, fault-finding and maintenance across residential and commercial settings. Learners will also develop skills in system design, planning and commissioning, as well as carrying out inspections, maintaining records and communicating effectively using digital tools.
