Governance
The Board of Gloucestershire College is the governing body, responsible for shaping the education and future of its students. Its members work to create the best possible environment and opportunity for all who work and learn with the College.
Our Board of Governors is responsible for the direction of the College in the following areas.
Strategy: Governors constructively challenge and lead the development of strategy.
Performance: They scrutinise the performance of management with agreed goals and objectives and monitor the reporting of performance with particular focus on quality and finance.
Risk: Governors should satisfy themselves that all performance information is accurate and that financial controls and systems of risk management are robust and defensible.
Resources: Ensure the College is financially solvent and makes good use of its resources.
People: Governors are responsible for determining appropriate levels of remuneration for senior post-holders (i.e. the Executive Team) and the Clerk, and have a prime role in appointing, and where necessary removing, senior post-holders and the Clerk, and in succession planning.

The sub-committees meet 4-7 times a year in the early evening; each governor is expected to serve on one committee as well as the main Board.

Governors will help determine the future education and training of young people and adults, the success of which makes a vital contribution to the UK economy.
