Football
Gloucestershire College will be running a men’s 11-a-side football team from the Gloucester Campus in 2016-2017 season. Competing in the AoC West Midlands 3E league, students will have the chance to play each week in the league as well as the AoC Knock out Cup.
Training will take place every Monday afternoon at Abbeydale Community Centre, with free transport from the college to the training ground. This year, there will also be a chance for students to develop their skills off-the-pitch by applying for our Football Activator roles. Being a Football Activator will allow you access to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) in order to develop your coaching or officiating role in football.
Head Coach – Christopher Gardner
Futsal
This year we will be looking to grow our already popular futsal team at both Gloucester Campus and the Forest of Dean Campus. Contact Stephen.barber@gloscol.ac.uk for more info.
Netball
In the 2016-17 season we will have a number of netball opportunities for students, from simply taking part in social Netball to our full Netball Academy.
Coached by Theresa Veale, this year the Netball Academy will be supported by England Netball and their Community Development Coaches. The Academy will compete in the AoC College Netball League 2, as well as the AoC Cup competitions.
Head Coach – Theresa Veale
Rugby League
Opening its doors in September 2016, the Rugby League Academy at Gloucestershire College will provide an opportunity for young players in the region to continue their studies alongside developing themselves as a Rugby League player; in a pathway to University and the professional game.
In partnership with the University of Gloucestershire All Gold's, students benefit from up to six hours a week of Rugby League activity scheduled during curriculum and alongside studies in a range of academic and vocational subjects at the College. With sessions taking place at the University of Gloucestershire Oxstalls Campus, the squad will have weekly strength and conditioning coaching alongside two team fields based sessions and regular playing opportunities.
Coached by Ex-Super League and current All Gold's first team player, Alex Davidson, the squad will also benefit from support of staff on the University's academic programmes.
Head Coach – Alex Davidson
