Meet the trainer: Anu Duhan, Assessor Trainer in Infrastructure at GC
Gloucestershire College has further strengthened its partnership with the IT & cyber security community thanks to our wide range of apprenticeships delivered in specialist facilities such as ADA: The Advanced Digital Academy. As the result, we have been training tech apprentices for established companies including North Tower Consulting, CDSDS, IRESS, EDF Energy, South Gloucestershire Council, L3 Harris and more. Our in-house team of lecturers is at the heart of this success; sharing their knowledge, experience and passion for the industry with their learners.
Anu Duhan, Assessor Trainer in Infrastructure at GC, is no stranger to the worlds of technology and teaching. After completing her Master’s degree in Computer Science, she worked as a lecturer in a college in India, teaching computer graphics, artificial intelligence, operating systems and networking.
Being an ISTQB-certified tester, she then held various Test and Quality Analyst positions, before joining Gloucestershire College in 2021 as an Assessor Trainer.
Anu is responsible for delivering the Comp TIA A+ certification course, which is considered the industry standard for careers in IT and regarded as one of the very first certifications professionals receive. By being CompTIA A+ certified, an apprentice demonstrates that they have all the fundamental programming and networking skills and expertise – and that they are eager to advance further.
When asked about her motivations behind returning to teaching after years of working in IT, Anu said: “I grew up in a family of teachers and I’ve always had an affinity for this profession – it’s a job with a purpose. I wanted to become a lecturer to make a difference in the lives of as many students as I can. You get to see young people’s love of their subject increase, their academic performance improve, and you can guide them in their choice of future career. Students can make you change the way you think about your academic work and can be a source of inspiration.”
