Andy Bates, Chief Financial Officer and Vice Principal at Gloucestershire College, comments on how the College strives to support the local business community by providing the skills they need:
“For many organisations, recent months have seen increased demand for their services whilst for others the focus has simply been survival.
As we start to emerge from the restrictions of 2020, I encourage all local businesses to take a look inside their organisations and reflect on the skills they will need to prosper in 2021 and beyond.
Our job at the College is to ensure that local organisations in Gloucestershire have got the skills they need to enable their businesses to grow; whether it’s equipping the younger generation coming through with the right skills to help enable that growth, or upskilling existing workforces to match with expanding demands in industry.
There is currently a great deal of financial support available to help companies of any size bring the skills they need into their workforce including apprenticeship grants and government funded short courses. I am confident this will go some way towards helping Gloucestershire come back stronger.”
