Back local talent: How your business can help support the next generation

There is growing evidence to suggest young people have been hit the hardest by the economic fallout from Covid-19. In response to this Gloucestershire College has launched a ‘Back Local Talent’ campaign, asking businesses to consider how they can help. The College has been inundated with young people looking for apprenticeship and career opportunities with local businesses. Here we summarise the three ways your business can get involved.

Term 2 Covid Update

Welcome back to term two at Gloucestershire College. We are open as usual. Following the latest Government announcements, Gloucestershire College will remain open throughout the second lockdown period, and all full-time and part-time courses will continue to run as time-tabled for students and apprentices. Employer case study: Renishaw - The value of apprenticeships in business

Gloucestershire College proudly works with Renishaw to train Embedded Electronic Engineering Degree (Level 6) Apprentices. We caught up with Julia Russell, Apprentice Lead at Renishaw, to share why apprenticeships form such an important part of their business and why local employers should consider hiring apprentices or upskilling existing members of staff through apprenticeships.

AAT Accounting case study: Anna Creed, Trainee Accounting Technician at GCSD Accountants Ltd.

Ever wondered what it’s like returning to education as an adult? College isn’t just for school leavers, and at GC we have lots of part-time and evening courses for those looking to train for a new career, upskill in their current one, or simply to challenge themselves.

Anna was a science teacher for 25 years, working in schools and colleges across the county before she became a full-time carer for her father in 2017 and started studying accounting to keep her brain active.
