GC delighted to be shortlisted for ‘Best Place to Work Award’ by Gloucestershire Business Awards
We are very excited to have been shortlisted as a finalist for the ‘Best Place to Work Award’ by Gloucestershire Business Awards, with the winner being announced at a black tie awards ceremony on Thursday 11 October at Cheltenham Racecourse.
The awards have been established for over 20 years, and are marked as one of the most prestigious events in the county. They recognise and reward local businesses and services across the private and public sectors, for their accolades, hard work and achievements.
Employing over 900 staff across three campuses in Cheltenham, Gloucester and Cinderford, Gloucestershire College was selected as a finalist for the ‘Best Place to Work’ due to our strong evidential record of employee benefits, and overall staff happiness and retention. Indeed, in the latest staff survey 93% of our staff members said they felt proud to work for the College.
Favourite staff benefits include:
- up to 38 days’ basic annual leave plus bank holidays and Christmas closure for non-teaching staff
- competitive high street and NUS card student discount scheme for all staff
- free hair and beauty treatments in GC salons
- flexible working policy
- attractive pension schemes
- gym membership discounts
- fundraiser events for local charities
As a quality provider of full and part time educational courses and apprenticeships, we pride ourselves on our extensive training provision for staff. In addition to regular team building and personal development days, staff also have the chance to undertake many of the courses run by the College for free, including higher level apprenticeships in leadership and management as well as shorter professional courses from time management to IT training and business planning.
GC offers a host of opportunities for staff to develop personally and professionally, and a more recent focus on health and wellbeing to improve work-life balance has proven to be hugely popular, ranging from weekly yoga, running clubs and even belly dancing at lunchtime!
Gloucestershire College employee base includes academic, professional services and maintenance teams, as well as working in partnership with hundreds of local businesses to upskill and develop their workforces through bespoke training and award-winning apprenticeships.
Carly Rosser-Mayo, Director of HR for the college commented on the award nomination news saying;
“ I am delighted that Gloucestershire College has been short listed for the Best Place to Work category at these prestigious awards for our county. I have worked at a number of large organisations and the College is undoubtedly the best place I have ever worked. The staff here are talented, passionate and committed to the development of our learners, which is obvious every day. I feel very lucky to be part of what we are here to do and know that this nomination is down to the energy of the people that work here and the roles that we play to create a great environment. Good Luck GC!”
