As part of our National Apprenticeship Week celebrations, we caught up with some of our employer partners to discover what they look for in an apprentice…

From commitment and a can-do attitude to attention to detail and flexibility, find out what qualities will make you stand out from the crowd on your CV, across a range of industries, when applying for your apprenticeship.

Willing to work hard

“With our apprentices, a can-do attitude is important. Someone who has good social skills, a strong work ethic and shows an interest in the organisation and role. We’re not too concerned with certificates and experience, as we know someone who shows good common sense and level of maturity is able to pick up the knowledge required.”

Speedy and accurate

“We look for someone who is thoughtful, inquisitive and willing to put in a great deal of effort. Our apprentices need to pay attention to detail, listen carefully and take instruction, but also work with initiative. A combination of speed and accuracy is essential under the economic and time pressures of today’s modern woodworking industry too. As a team, it is essential that our apprentices, while independently motivated, should also be team players, as well as be reliable and have a mature attitude to work.”

Demonstrates genuine passion
