Professional management courses to drive business forward

16 August 2017

To support the growth of dynamic, well-trained leaders and managers, Gloucestershire College has created a new suite of professionally accredited qualifications that offer high-quality, flexible, development opportunities.

Dynamic, effective leaders and managers are imperative for the success of any organisation. Across all industries, management is a fundamental function, and managers equipped with strong leadership skills will ensure their teams achieve its true potential and help their organisations deal with future possibilities and challenges.

Accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), this September, the College will enrol team leaders, and front line managers looking to develop their knowledge and skills on to one of three new management level qualifications.

Delivered as standalone qualifications or as part of an apprenticeship, these qualifications offer flexible delivery options to suit an organisations workforce development strategy.

New courses available in coaching and mentoring

The ILM Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring Level 3 is ideal for those in their first management role that would benefit from developing the tools and confidence to coach others. Coaching and mentoring is an essential aspect of management to ensure that all employees are nurtured and allowed to grow, develop and learn new skills; it is proven to impact on employee morale and organisational goals.

The Team Leader/Supervisor Level 3 qualification is embedded within a new Apprenticeship standard and has been developed with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) for first line managers, team leaders and supervisors with responsibility for supporting, managing and developing team members. For those new to managing projects, planning and monitoring workloads and resources, delivering operational plan or resolving problems, this professional apprenticeship can be paid for from a levy account.

For more senior managers, the Diploma in Leadership and Management Level 5 is another higher level apprenticeship qualification developed with the CMI. It is for managers of teams or projects who are tasked with delivering strategic operational and departmental goals and objectives.

Significant Benefits for Learners AND Employers

Learners establish what it takes to be an effective coach, and learn about coaching models, tools and techniques to support them, whilst profiting from the opportunity to put newly acquired skills into practice by carrying out supervised coaching sessions.

Blended learning with both online and on campus delivery means that learners can fit the course around their current work and life commitments. This modern and flexible approach ensures that students benefit from quality, professional development that works; whilst employers benefit knowing that their employees are developing key management skills and continuing with their role.

Employers can be reassured that their managers develop as coachers and are properly equipped with the skills, knowledge and ethical understanding required to be effective. And with options for professional management apprenticeships, businesses can utilise their apprenticeship levy to fund the courses for their managers.

Gloucestershire College’s range of management courses offer a variety of pathways for developing professional skills. Whether an organisation is looking to upskill its current staff with higher education courses accredited by ILM
