GC is celebrating 10 years of National Apprenticeship Week

27 February 2017

National Apprenticeship Week 2017 will be taking place from Monday 6 to Friday 10 March, and this year is extra special as it marks the tenth anniversary of the countrywide celebration of apprenticeship success.

To mark the occasion, Gloucestershire College will be catching up with a selection of apprentices from a range of industries. Visitors to the College website and social media pages will be able to watch video blogs from current apprentices, who’ll be talking about their experiences and what their apprenticeship really involves on a daily basis.

The College will also be catching up with former apprentices 10 years on, to find out how their careers have progressed over the past decade, and hearing from employers who have been hiring GC apprentices for 10 years, for their perspective of what makes a great apprentice and how to get the most out of the experience.

For those considering doing an apprenticeship, the College’s Apprenticeship Team will be hosting a Facebook Live Q&A session at 4pm on Wednesday 8 March. Prospective apprentices are invited to send in their questions on anything apprenticeship related by posting on the @gloucestershirecollege Facebook page, and the GC experts will try to answer as many as possible there and then.

The College will also be offering prospective apprentices top tips on how to find an apprenticeship and busting the myths surrounding apprenticeships, in a series of articles aimed at prospective apprentices. Visit the news section of the GC website each day during NAW for new articles and videos:

If National Apprenticeship Week inspires you to find an apprenticeship, Gloucestershire College will also be hosting a dedicated Apprenticeship Information Evening on Wednesday 22 March, at its Gloucester Campus. Guests at the free event will be able to meet local employers who are looking to hire apprentices during the next year, and can even apply for live vacancies on the night.
