Parent Information Sessions at Gloucestershire College
Gloucestershire College is inviting parents in to each of its campuses this October, for a series of Parent Information Sessions. Each hour-long session is aimed at helping them fully understand the options available to their child after GCSEs, including sixth form, vocational or technical courses and apprenticeships.
Sessions will take place on the following dates:
- Gloucester Campus – Monday 17 October, 6pm to 7pm
- Cheltenham Campus – Tuesday 18 October, 6pm to 7pm
- Forest of Dean Campus – Wednesday 19 October, 6pm to 7pm
The GC leadership team will lead each session, during which the independent Advice Team will also provide impartial information on all of the education options available to young people in Gloucestershire. Parents will be able to discover what studying at Gloucestershire College is like through the eyes of a student, to help them understand the journey young people go through at this important time in their lives. There will also be the opportunity for parents to ask any questions they might have about post-16 education, in a Q&A session.
Principal Matthew Burgess said: “We understand the choices young people face when deciding their next steps in education once they have completed their GCSEs.
"This is an extremely important time and parents and guardians play a key role in helping their children choose the right route for them; the route that best suits their individual skills, strengths, abilities and ambitions.
“Our Parent Information Sessions aim to help parents understand the wealth of options available to their children, including sixth form, full-time college courses and apprenticeships, so they can be sure they are fully informed before they help their child make that important decision about their future.”
