We all know September means back to school, but it’s not just the kids who can benefit from returning to the classroom with the array of part-time recreational courses on offer at Gloucestershire College.

Part-time students can choose from a broad spectrum of subject areas ranging from computer skills to cookery, meditation, photography and more. Courses will take place in Cheltenham, Gloucester and the Forest of Dean, with many running in the evening.

This autumn the College has added a number of new courses to its diverse range of study areas. For those interested in improving their home, a new course in DIY Basic Home Maintenance is being introduced. While new Health and Wellbeing classes including Gentle Yoga, Meditation for Mindfulness and Confidence, Wellbeing and Resilience are a new inclusion for those seeking self-improvement.

It’s never too late to take up a new hobby with tuition in guitar basics, Art of Illustration, SLR and Digital Photography. Or those who fancy channeling their creative side can try their hand at crafts including Drawing and Painting, Jewellery Making and Flower Arranging.

Budding Mary Berrys and Jamie Olivers can learn Cake Decoration for Fun or take classes in Confident Cooking. While holiday makers can brush up on their languages, with beginner to upper intermediate level courses in French, Spanish, German and Italian.

Vice Principal Peter White said: “People of all ages and interests enjoy our recreational courses, which help them to reach their goals of self-improvement or learning a new skill.

“We aim to make our courses accessible to all, by offering a range of convenient times and locations. We look forward to welcoming a new intake of students in the autumn term.”

Another new addition to the packed schedule is a series of workshops on the Steps to Setting up a Small Business. This will be delivered alongside the College’s other career-boosting short courses, including Computer Confidence for Work and Excel and PowerPoint workshops.

The Part-time Course Guide also includes a range of courses geared towards achieving a professional qualification related to industries including business, IT, hair and beauty, teaching and construction.
