Gloucestershire College’s city centre training salon, Graduations at no.9, will host a Charity Fun Day for Children in Need this Friday 13 November, and is inviting members of the public to come in for a trim for just £5 per person.

From 9am to 6pm, the College’s Level 3 hairdressing students, who train in the popular salon whilst studying for their qualifications at the College, will don their PJs and onesies and offer ladies and gents wet cuts, styling services (blow drys, shampoo and sets, straightening, plaiting and curling) and up-dos during half-hour time slots – perfect for those short on time who need to liven up their locks.

Conveniently situated on Northgate Street in Gloucester, the salon has 12 seats and two beauty rooms, and boasts a high-end look combining a monochrome colour palette with a modern industrial theme. Brands used in Graduations at no.9 include Wella, Dermalogica and GHD.

The salon, launched in partnership with The Francesco Group for Education and Training, was officially opened by celeb stylist and the long hair expert, Patrick Cameron, in September and gives ambitious Gloucestershire College students the opportunity to hone their skills in a real work environment as they learn about all aspects of the hair and beauty industry, from creative cutting, colouring and styling to time management and customer service.

Salon Manager, Maria Vallender, said:

“We’re excited to be launching Graduations at no.9’s first fundraising day for Children in Need and look forward to welcoming local residents and shoppers to the salon to support this worthy cause and help give our students valuable experience, before they leave looking and feeling great!

“There are appointments available for cuts and styles all day, from 9am to 6pm, and there will also be a cake sale offering delights handmade by salon staff for customers to enjoy whilst they are being pampered.”

Please note cash payments only will be accepted on the day, as all money raised is going straight to Children in Need.

Those wishing to book an appointment can do so by calling the salon on 01452 527356 or emailing

For more information about the salon visit or find it on Facebook by searching for ‘Graduations at No9’.
