Gloucestershire College’s city centre training salon, Graduations at No.9, is delighted to announce the appointment of Maria Vallender as its new Salon Manager.

Gloucester-based Maria started her extensive hairdressing and barbering career working in city centre salons before launching her successful 11-year-long freelance business.

A true college success story, Maria then gained her Level 3 hairdressing qualifications at Gloucestershire College before becoming a Hairdressing Lecturer at the College in 2007; a role she flourished in during the past eight years.

In addition to her NVQ qualifications, Maria is a qualified Assessor and Internal Verifier, and also holds the Certificate in Education, which she gained whilst teaching at the College.

Maria said: “I feel I have settled into my new position with great confidence in the future of the salon. We would like Graduations at No.9 to offer an excellent experience for both the students and clientele.

“The students need a real insight into the hair and beauty industry and this is what we promise to provide at Gloucestershire College. I plan for them to gain confidence, improve their skills and feel a sense of achievement with every session; likewise for the clients to have an enjoyable experience.

“I see huge potential for the salon to grow and aim to deliver an outstanding level of customer service and training as an education provider.”

Situated in the heart of Gloucester, Graduations at No.9 is the first city centre training salon in the South West, launched by Gloucestershire College in partnership with the Francesco Group.

Bridging the gap between education and employment, the salon is open six days a week and offers a range of quality hair and beauty treatments, expertly delivered by Gloucestershire College students. These include cutting, colouring, restyles, waxing, facials, spray tanning, manicures and much more.

Boasting a contemporary look combining a monochrome colour palette with an industrial theme, Graduations at No.9 has 12 seats and two beauty rooms, with high-end brands used including Wella, Dermalogica and GHD.
