College hosts first ever ‘Great Pizza Bake Off’
Pupils from local primary schools have competed in the first ever Gloucestershire College Great Pizza Bake Off held at their Royal Forest of Dean campus earlier this Spring. Each school was invited to put forward one Year 5 or 6 pupil’s entry, outlining the best topping for a tomato covered pizza base, whilst taking into consideration their ‘five a day’.
Four finalists were chosen and invited into the College to create their pizza, with the help from current Gloucestershire College students. The pupils were judged on the variety of ingredients used, creativity shown, and their personal presentation and confidence during the bake off. The quality of each pizza was incredible and after a tough decision budding young chef Hope Adams, (10) from Clearwell C of E Primary School was announced the winner with her innovative breakfast themed pizza.
The other finalists were Alys Havard (10) from Littledean Primary School, Finley Sparkes (10) from Blakeney Primary School and Jude Mullinger (11) from Bream C of E Primary School.
Sandra Tyrrell, Gloucestershire College RFD Campus Assistant Site Principal said; “This was a fantastic event to be involved in. It was astounding to see the quality of all the entries; the young pupils showed such enthusiasm and passion whilst creating their pizza. It was extremely tough to judge the winner with such outstanding pizza’s to choose from but Hope just slightly tipped the mark with her themed pizza. Congratulations to all of our winners and we look forward to welcoming you all again, it was an absolute delight.”
