Nathan Travers

I love that I’m doing something for others in a job sector that is often seen as ‘not for men’. I can help people physically and mentally in the way I’ve always wanted to, while shining a light on the fact that you don’t have to be a certain gender to work within the NHS.

Originally my dream career was a paramedic. When members of my family needed a paramedic, they helped keep a light-hearted mood while providing care and this really inspired me. However, this course has shown me the importance of mental health services within the healthcare sector. That’s something that’s very important to me, too.

Our tutors have first-hand experience in what they teach, and have all the right facilities to provide above and beyond training, as well as work placements giving us first-hand experience in the healthcare sector.

My next step is university, whether that’s Paramedic Science or General Nursing leading to specialising in Mental Health is still to be decided!

For any other men thinking about a career in the healthcare sector, nothing is stopping you becoming a healthcare worker; if that is what you want to do then don’t let anything or anyone stop you.
