ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes help many learners who are currently living in the UK to improve their English in order to communicate better in their everyday life, whether in the workplace, at their child’s school or just communicating with the public in general.
Through our experienced tutors you will also learn about living in the UK and how to apply for UK citizenship. You have the opportunity to take Reading, Writing and Speaking and Listening exams at various points in the year.
EFL (English as a Foreign Language) classes are multi-cultural and focus on communication through English. Lessons are very interactive and designed to help learners with all aspects of learning English. Exam classes are also available for learners of all levels.
Classes are very flexible and learners can attend on a part-time or full-time basis for any given period of time (from one week to one year or more!).
We offer trips throughout the year in order to enrich the learner’s experience and understanding of life in the UK.
All of our teachers are professionally qualified and the permanent staff have a wealth of teaching experience to offer learners. All our summer school teachers are qualified too.
CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) courses are available throughout the year for people who would like to have the opportunity to learn how to teach English to international learners.
We offer both part–time and full-time courses which are run by experienced EFL teachers and Teacher Trainers.
If you are not sure whether this is for you, we offer a Taster course (TEFL Taster) which will introduce you to the basic concepts of teaching English.
Marie Millican, lecturer in the ESOL department and a Teacher Educator across the college since 2003. She is a strong believer in motivating students to communicate effectively by developing appropriate written and oral/aural skills, and she knows that the brilliant ESOL team here do just that.
