This Higher National qualification is aimed at students wanting to continue their education through applied learning and experience a wide-ranging study of the construction and the built environment sector. It is intended for students who wish to pursue or advance their career in industry where a variety of technical roles such as architectural technician, site supervision or surveying could be followed.
The course is designed to give students an experience of the breadth and depth of the sector that will prepare them for further study (degree level) or training.
The units of study will include:
- Construction Technology
- Science & Materials
- Construction Practice and Management
- Legal & Statutory Responsibilities in Construction
- Construction Information (Drawing, Detailing, Specification)
In addition you will undertake a subject related project.
As a part time programme, you will study over two years, attending college one day per week. The course places a large demand on your personal time and you should therefore allow for approximately 8 hours of self-study each week.
