The Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health is designed to provide a greater awareness of mental health issues and the importance of mental well-being. Learners will build a knowledge base that can be used in a variety of health and social care roles. Gain an understanding of the skills needed to work in mental health services, the importance of addressing mental health problems and how legislation and publicity is changing attitudes towards those seeking treatment.
The qualification consists of 5 MANDATORY UNITS:
- Unit 1: Understanding the context if mental health and wellbeing.
- Unit 2: Promotion of mental health and wellbeing.
- Unit 3: Mental health problems: associated issues and consequences.
- Unit 4: Understanding mental ill health.
- Unit 5: Working in mental health.
The length of this qualification is up to 5 months and approximately 8 hours of weekly study time is recommended. (This may fluctuate according to submission dates for assessments etc.)
You will have access to the iTrain on-line platform 24 hours a day to allow flexible study around your other commitments and online assessment tasks will be provided by and submitted to your tutor through the portal. A portfolio of evidence will be collected for review by the exam board and assessments will be marked and moderated by the GC tutor team. Your first assessment will be due approximately 6 weeks after your course begins.
In order to complete the qualification there are no network or processing requirements but you will need access to a good internet connection that supports the uploading and downloading of files to your computer. A minimum of Level 2 Maths and English at Grade C/4 is recommended.
This course can start at any time of the year and we'll aim to get you started as soon as possible.
