The Level 3 Certificate in the Principles of End of Life Care looks at the knowledge and understanding of the key principles of caring for patients approaching the end of their lives in a wide range of care settings, including hospices, care homes, care in the community and primary care. The qualification focuses on the common questions and themes in end of life care. It also provides learners with an understanding of how to support a person’s familial, spiritual, social and emotional needs.
The qualification consists of 5 MANDATORY UNITS:
- Unit 1: Understanding end of life care.
- Unit 2: Communication during end of life care.
- Unit 3: Assessment and care planning in end of life care.
- Unit 4: Person Centred approaches to end of life care.
- Unit 5: Care during the final hours of life and bereavement care.
You will have access to the iTrain on-line platform 24 hours a day to allow flexible study around your other commitments and online assessment tasks will be provided by and submitted to your tutor through the portal. A portfolio of evidence will be collected for review by the exam board and assessments will be marked and moderated by the GC tutor team. Your first assessment will be due approximately 6 weeks after your course begins.
In order to complete the qualification there are no network or processing requirements but you will need access to a good internet connection that supports the uploading and downloading of files to your computer. A minimum of Level 2 Maths and English at Grade C/4 is recommended.
This courses can start at any time of the year and we'll aim to get you started as soon as possible.
From April 2021, any adult who wants to achieve their first full level 3 qualification, which is equivalent to an advanced technical certificate or diploma, or 2 full A levels, will be able to access this course for free.
