    In 2017, there were 412 arrests for terrorism-related offences. With issues of human rights, hate crime and democracy becoming ever more prevalent in the UK and the world, it is more important than ever to be informed on the measures that can be taken to help prevent terrorism and promote safeguarding and British Values in society.

    Whether you are an individual looking to upskill or an employer looking to develop your staff safeguarding training, this FREE on-line Level 2 Safeguarding qualification will develop skills needed to recognise and prevent radicalisation and extremism, the principles of safeguarding, the prevent duty and its importance in society, and the importance of online safety and British values. Understanding safeguarding and prevention at level 2 can benefit the wider safeguarding practices within the workplace. On successful completion you will receive an E-certificate.

    Unit 1: Principles of safeguarding

    Learn the definition of safeguarding and the national and local context of safeguarding and protection from abuse. Develop an understanding of the types of abuse and the duty of care through the principles that underpin safeguarding of children, young people and adults. Develop the skills needed to appropriately respond to a disclosure of abuse and what a person should do if a disclosure takes place.

    Unit 2: The importance of British Values

    Explore the principles of British Values and learn about the relevant legislation concerning human rights and counter-terrorism. Define the term liberty and the impact of terrorism, extremism and radicalisation. Learn how prevent duty supports British values.

    Unit 3: The prevent duty and its importance in society

    Define prevent and CONTEST and develop an understanding of the threat of terrorism. Learn key principles in duty and safeguarding including the factors which may make an individual susceptible to becoming radicalised and the actions, including reporting procedures, that should be taken if there are consents that a vulnerable individual or group may be at risk from radicalisation and more.

    Unit 4: The importance of online safety

    Discover the positive uses of internet activity as well as the surface web, deep web and dark web. Develop skills to identify individuals who may be vulnerable online and the risk of negative online activity. Learn the signs that an individual may be using the internet inappropriately, how an individual can be supported to change their online behaviour and more.

    Approximate Course Duration – 8 -12 weeks (based on an average of 10-15 hours of self study per week)

    This qualification can be completed on either a desk top or mobile phone.  There are no specific software requirements needed apart from a stable internet connection.
