This course is aimed at those who already have some sewing machine skills but would like to improve them further.
Feel inspired by The Great British Sewing Bee? Want to try some bigger projects? This course will help you to build confidence in using all the functions of the machine to work on longer projects. You will be led through using a commercial pattern and basic fitting principles so that you can make the most of your sewing skills. There will be a choice of projects to do, or bring along your own patterns and you will be supported to make them.
During the course you will begin with some small projects to build confidence with the functions of the machine before starting a longer project based on your own choice of simple commercial pattern agreed with the tutor.
Each week you will need to bring a basic sewing kit.
This will need to include:
· Sharp scissors for fabric
· Small pair of scissors for paper
· Pins and pin cushion
· Hand sewing needles
· Sewing cotton
· Tape measure
Each week you will be advised of what materials you will need for the following session.
Our tutor, Jo Teague is a popular arts and crafts tutor based in Gloucestershire, she loves working with all forms of textiles and her enthusiasm for all forms of textiles, from the making, to designers and the history of textiles can be infectious. Your creativity will be encouraged from the very beginning!
