Creative Textiles

    Do you love to work with cloth, stitch, fabric and thread?

    This course will give you the opportunity work with the wide variety of textiles techniques to create your own piece of original work. You will work with a sketchbook to develop your ideas, try out a variety of techniques such as hand dyeing, machine and hand embroidery, tassel and cord making to create your own piece of art. The initial theme will be the natural world but you will choose how you develop your work supported to make original interesting art.

    During the course you will begin with some small sketchbook projects and technique to build confidence starting a longer project based on your own choice that will involve some personal research.

    Each week you will need to bring a basic sewing kit
    This will need to include
    · Sharp scissors for fabric
    · Small pair of scissors for paper
    · Pins and pin cushion
    · Hand sewing needles
    · Sewing cotton

    You will also need to bring a sketch or notebook to record your ideas in, some art materials such as pens/pencils to develop your ideas while in class.
    Each week you will be advised of what materials you will need for the following session.

You will pay £80 for your course

Your course could be free of charge as you may be eligible for financial support to help pay your tuition fees, travel, exams, materials or childcare.

When you enrol you’ll need to pay any course fees for the first year, which you can do by direct debit, cash, debit card or credit card.
