This newly offered full time course will allow learners the opportunity to study a nationally recognised intermediate qualification in Site Carpentry. It will be delivered at the conveniently located Gloucester campus in purpose built facilities by experienced staff with many years site experience.
The course is a blend of practical training and assessment, supported by end of unit multiple choice tests.
Throughout the one year course you will be trained and assessed in everything from fixing skirting board and architrave through to hanging a door and assembly of a roof. Whilst using a full range of industry standard power tools safely.
You will cover the following units:
- Health, safety and welfare in construction
- Prepare and use carpentry and joinery portable power tools
- Understanding information, quantities and communication with others
- Understanding construction technology
- Carry out first fixing operations
- Carry out second fixing operations
- Carry out structural carcassing operations
- Carry out maintenance to non-structural carpentry work
At Gloucestershire College we want students to develop their English and maths skills so that they achieve their learning goals and future career aims. For this reason all full-time students who have not achieved grade A* to C English language or maths GCSE will study these subjects as part of their course.
