What will the apprentice be doing?

The broad purpose of the occupation is to work and interact directly with children on a day-today basis supporting the planning of and delivery of activities, purposeful play opportunities and educational programmes within the ethos of the setting.

You will be assigned a mentor to support you throughout your apprenticeship, as well as the opportunity to complete additional in house training.

·         To assist in providing a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment indoors and out at all times.

·         To assist in delivering the relevant curriculum that enables children to make individual progress.

·         To help ensure the nursery meets the relevant inspectorate’s  requirement at all times.

·         To understand and work with DCNL policies & procedures including  how to deal with child protection issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents complaints and any emergencies.

·         To assist in planning activities which ensure each child is working towards their developmental goals.

·         To ensure that the children are safe.

·         To develop partnerships with parent/carers

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

NCFE CACHE Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner

Functional Skills English and mathematics Level 1, working towards Level 2

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Possible permanent position upon completion of apprenticeship.
