You will be working towards your Commis Chef apprenticeship standard by working alongside a highly skilled team of chefs assisting in a range of duties-

Duties include:

  • All aspects of food preparation and cooking
  • Kitchen hygiene and COSHH training
  • Food service and customer focus
  • Food hygiene regulations
  • Health and safety regulations
  • Financial controls (budgets, costing, portion control & wastage)

Menu planning

This is a great opportunity to work with an established company with excellent training and support with good progression routes all the way up to head chef for the right candidate

  • Good communication skills
  • The ability to multi-task and take instruction
  • Organised
  • Clean and tidy and good personal presentation in line with current food safety standards

Personal qualities

  • Good communication skills
  • GCSEs minimum
  • Able to work on own initiative within the regulations
  • Quick learner and able to take direction when required
  • Confidence in communicating with a predominantly young customer base
  • High standard of personal hygiene
  • Enthusiastic about a career in the catering industry

Desired qualifications

GCSE maths and English A – D 9/3 or equivalent qualifications

Permanent employment may be available after this apprenticeship.
