At Gloucestershire College we are committed to preparing you for your next step, whether that be employment, further study, higher education or an apprenticeship. Your ambition is our ambition and we make it our mission to help you get there!
You will take part in work experience placements as part of your programme of study. GC is committed to working with employers to ensure you have as much experience as possible during your time with us. We know this makes a real difference to the students that local employers are recruiting and to your potential success as an Apprentice or a future student.
At GC you will have the opportunity to personalise your study programme by choosing the best development for YOU.
Through one or more of the following:
- Additional work experience
- Sports and activities
- Training and development
If you are studying a Level 3 course then you will be expected to undertake a substantial Work Placement as part of your programme. Drop into the Student Hub on any campus to find out more.
Learning Mentors are here to support you throughout your journey at GC. They will support you to be safe, successful and stay on track. They support students alongside academic tutors to make sure you have everything you need to learn successfully. They can make links with staff across the college including the Learning Support team, Advice and Guidance, Employment coaches and Safeguarding Officers.
At Level 1 and 2, your professional development sessions will ensure you have the skills and knowledge to start working independently out in business, whilst providing you the opportunity to work with employers. You will cover key topics in health and safety, safeguarding, building confidence and resilience and learning about your rights and responsibilities as an employee.
We have a dedicated team on each site supporting you in gaining meaningful external experiences and advertising opportunities for part-time work and volunteering. They are here to help you explore new work-placement ideas and meet what is required of you on your course.
The Students’ Union (SU) has two main functions. One is to support students to address their concerns. The other is to support Student Development by encouraging you to arrange events, sports, fundraise and volunteer. They are here to make sure students have a good time and get the chance to lead fulfilling lives. Drop into the Student Hubs to find out more.
