Sometimes it’s hard for parents to stay ‘in the loop’ as their children progress to Further Education and become more independent. This section will answer your queries, and help you to help them make the most of this wonderful opportunity.
Our students get a lot more than qualifications. GC also has lots of support to help our students become well-rounded individuals. There are plenty of opportunities to have fun, learn new sports, and gain the skills employers love too!
You child’s Learning Mentor and Student Services are the main sources of support, care and information to help your child during their time at GC. If you are concerned on your child’s behalf you can get in touch with them.
For parents of under 19s, your child's Learning Mentor will be in touch to introduce themselves and to address any concerns.
At the end of the first half term we’ll know if your child may be better suited to a different type or level of course and we will be in touch to discuss each step with you and your child.
Because we need to obtain and store information about our students and prospective students, we adhere to the rules of the Data Protection Act 1998. You can download a copy of our Data Protection Policy below.
Following guidance from the Information Commissioners Office the College will only release information to parents with the student’s consent, unless the student is under 19. Note that this is different from the schools as students who attend GC are no longer in compulsory education.
If you have any questions about Data Protection or the welfare of your child while they are at GC, please speak to Student Services.
