In a celebration of academic achievement, we recently held our Higher Awards Ceremony at the historic Gloucester Cathedral. Over 400 students, family members, lecturers and VIP guests gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of those who had successfully completed their higher education journeys at Gloucestershire College.

The stunning backdrop of Gloucester Cathedral provided an inspiring setting for the ceremony, as graduates walked through the cloisters to receive their awards and recognition of academic excellence and years of dedication and hard work.

The keynote speaker was former GC student, fashion expert and stylist to the stars David Thomas, who took to the stage to share words of wisdom and inspiration that resonated with graduates, offering insights into the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead. Speeches, including those from Principal Matthew Burgess, were not just about academic accomplishments but also about resilience, adaptability, and the importance of lifelong learning.

The diversity of subjects represented at the ceremony reflect the breadth of programmes offered at GC. From engineering apprenticeships and computing degrees to construction and health and social care courses, graduates showcase the college's commitment to providing a comprehensive and well-rounded education, meeting the needs of the local economy and tackling skills gaps head on.

Our Higher Awards Ceremony at Gloucester Cathedral was a momentous occasion, blending tradition with contemporary achievement. The event not only celebrated academic success but also the importance of perseverance, growth, and the pursuit of knowledge. As graduates step into the next phase of their lives and careers, this ceremony will resonate in their minds, inspiring them to reach greater heights in their career journey.

We are so excited to see what our alumni get up to next. Best of luck to our 2022/2023 graduates!
