Apprenticeships deliver for businesses and individuals
Apprenticeships enable individuals to work with some of Britain’s brightest and best companies , gaining the skills and knowledge they need to succeed, in some cases up to degree level, while working and earning.
Now an increasingly popular option for businesses, apprenticeships are helping businesses develop a motivated, skilled and qualified workforce. The benefits are improved skills levels, service, morale and productivity throughout the staff.
Nine out of every ten apprenticeship employers say apprentices deliver with 89% reporting that it has helped their business improve the quality of their product or service. More than 1,500 job roles are available with different levels of apprenticeship on offer depending on skills and qualifications: from entry level 2 qualifications right through to Level 6 degree level apprenticeships.
Apprenticeships are changing, putting employers in control when it comes to designing how they work for both employee and business. New reforms are replacing the existing frameworks with short, simple, accessible standards written by employers. The reforms are also giving employers control of available funding so they are able to select the training that best meets their skills needs.
Research shows that one in five of the top 100 apprenticeship employers have a former apprentice on their board. This highlights the contribution that an apprentice can make to an organisation and the value of apprenticeships to individual’s career progression. Higher Apprenticeships are now available in new areas such as law, space engineering and even the secret service. Equivalent to degrees, more of these specialised and highly skilled apprenticeships are being offered each year, giving individuals the chance to continue their professional development and fully reach their potential.
