Northern Quarter building to start this month!
Building work on our new campus in Cinderford's Northern Quarter is expected to start at the end of May.
GC has received official notification of the Government's funding for the campus and is expecting the formal transfer of the land from the Forestry Commission this week.
Vice Pricipal, Peter White said: "We are expecting to be on-site and for building work to be underway by the end of May. This should allow us to welcome the first students to the new college buildings by the start of the new term in September 2018."
Gloucestershire County Council has already started work on phase one of the new spine road which will provide essential transport links to the campus.
The new college will form the centrepiece of a £100 million regeneration project for residential, business and leisure development at the Northern Quarter site in Cinderford.
The purpose built centre for post-16 education, which has been designed by Roberts Limbrick Architects of Gloucester, will boast modern facilities that include ICT suites, construction workshops, industry standard training kitchens, a contemporary learning centre and state-of-the-art teaching spaces for the wide range of subjects on offer. The site will also host a hair and beauty training salon and a student run restaurant, both of which will be open to the public.
The current Forest of Dean Campus at Five Acres will remain open until the new college is complete, at which point new and existing GC students in the Forest of Dean will transfer to the new college for their studies.
