GC House Blog 12. Our second project is under way!
That's right! We've now started on our second GC House renovation and are already making progress. The house is situated in Hucclecote, on the pleasant Porchester Road and luckily for us we have extremely supportive neighbours again!
All of our Construction and Building Services students will have the opportunity to gain site experience and develop their skills, including those not only specific to their trade, but also their professional conduct too.
So far all the carpets have been lifted and upstairs some fantastic floorboards have been revealed! We hope to bring these back to their former glory by sanding and applying varnish. Last week Wales and West utilities came to move the gas meter from the garage to the outside wall, which is allowing us to progress with our plans to convert the garage into a dining room. Watch this space for updates.
We have begun work in the kitchen, removing the gas cooker, units and part of the worktop. We have ensured the sink is still serviceable (mainly for the kettle!) and Howdens Joinery have been to visit us to provide a modern design for the kitchen renovation.
Our level 2 plumbers were hard at work last week laying copper pipe under the floorboards for the radiators and boilers. The electric has been turned off and a temporary power supply installed (again mainly for the kettle!)
Progress is excellent so far and we look forward to working with more students and companies during the remainder of the project. What's more, our third project called 'Elmbridge' is on its way and we will be staring that very soon.
